Newnan is a vibrant and rapidly growing community southwest of Atlanta, enjoying a fairly warm and sunny climate year-round with relatively low rainfall. What better place to set aside the mundane stresses of daily life and clear your mind on the golf course?
We’ve prepared a list showcasing just a few of the best places to sink some birdies in the picturesque city of Newnan.
White Oak Golf Club
Now approaching its 30th year, this established – yet relatively young – course blends the classic with the contemporary. The Old Course is a beautiful, panoramic landscape of pristine sands, sparkling waters, and smooth, lush fairways that will appeal to traditionalist pros – while the Seminole Course, with a slightly lower rating and a more modern layout, is a delightful change of pace and accessible to the whole family. There’s something for everyone at White Oak, so be sure to take a look.
250 acres of gently rolling hills, gushing creeks, and wetland forests – and, of course, 18 holes of world-class golf – await at you at Summer Grove. Sharpen your game at the putting and chipping greens of the onsite practice facilities, or take a swing at the driving range (open 7:00am until dusk, seven days a week). Incredibly maintenance and friendly, reasonably priced guest options make this one of the most accessible clubs around.
Orchard Hills Golf Club
If there’s one thing that golf reviewers can agree upon, it’s that Orchard Hills is one of the finest public courses in the entire state of Georgia. Twenty-seven gorgeous holes in a championship layout beckon visitors to traverse the Bermuda grass fairways and show off their short game on the bentgrass greens. Take advantage of the club’s incredible full-service restaurant, fully stocked pro shop, onsite PGA professional instructors, and practice facilities for developing your skills.
Since coming into new ownership in late 2007, Coweta Club has been undergoing an extensive renovation program under the oversight of (former Augusta National superintendent) Billy Fuller. The course here combines a powerful and exhilarating opening nine (one of the more challenging offerings in the Metro Atlanta region) with a back nine that doesn’t slack either. Throughout the entire outing, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of hills, ravines, and even waterfalls.
