If you are looking for a fun way to spend a day with the family that is less than an hour away from Newnan, check out the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain. You will see animals like you have never seen them before. Get up close and personal with water buffalo, zebras, tigers, giraffes, black bears, and so much more. You can even pet and feed some of the animals.
Driving Through the Park
You can experience the 250-acre park by taking your own vehicle along a five-mile path through the midst of the safari. A tour bus is also available at various times throughout the year. If you have a small group or just don’t want to drive your own vehicle, consider renting a Zebra Van or Zebra MiniVan for an extra fee. Be prepared to see some truly magnificent creatures walk right up to your vehicle.
After you complete the driving tour, you can visit the parks’ Walk-About. From peacocks to alpacas, it is home to some of the smaller and less dangerous animals, many of which will walk right up to you and let you feed them.
Café and Gift Shop
After you feed the animals, take a break and feed yourself at the Safari Café, which offers both indoor and outdoor seating. It serves family-friendly food like hot dogs, pizza, and burgers. Afterwards, you can stop by the Wild Animal Gift Shop and pick up a souvenir, like a t-shirt or a plush toy, to remind you of your fun-filled day.
About the Park
A man named Ron Snider created the park in 1990 in order to help the public become familiar with animals they might not normally encounter. His main goal was to encourage young children to develop a love of nature for life. He also wanted to keep it affordable so that everyone could go. Parks! America purchased it in 2005 and implemented some upgrades to make the experience even more exciting for visitors.
Keep in mind that the park’s hours change throughout the year. Check out the Wild Animal Safari website for more info on hours and ticket prices. Military and student discounts are available.
