During the Civil War, Newnan was known as a “hospital city” for soldiers. Today, it is still a great place for health care, both for patients and employees. Newnan area hospitals and doctor’s offices are some of the oldest and best in the state.
Piedmont Newnan Hospital
Serving the city since its founding in 1836, Piedmont Newnan Hospital opened a new 105-acre, 136-bed hospital on Poplar Road in 2012. It is a part of the Piedmont Healthcare System, and it has over 900 medical employees and 300 doctors on staff. While 24-hour emergency care is available, as well as most standard medical services, it specializes in heart care, sleep services, wound and hyperbaric care, and women’s care. It even has its own advanced cancer center.
Cancer Treatment Centers of America
For those interested in or who specialize in oncology, the Cancer Treatment Centers of America Southeastern Regional Medical Center is actually located in Newnan on Celebrate Life Parkway. It specializes in lung and breast cancer. It employs a diverse medical staff that consists of physicians with a wide range of specialties, nurses, care managers, mind-body therapists, pastoral care providers, registered dieticians, naturopathic clinicians, physical therapists, and more.
Coweta County Fire Department
For EMTs, paramedics, and others looking to provide critical emergency care to Newnan residents, the Coweta County Fire Department is a great place to work. In 2013, it responded to nearly 5,400 EMS/rescue calls, and it has 16 station locations spread throughout the county.

Of course, Newnan is also home to dozens of doctors’ offices and medical centers, ranging from general practitioners to specialists in fields like pediatrics.
